As part of an increasing focus on northern West Virginia, Friends of Coal will team up with Cabela's in Wheeling for Friends of Coal "Miner Appreciation" Days at the Wheeling store on June 26-29.  We hope to also be joined by Friends of Coal from Ohio and Pennsylvania. See Cabela’s press release.

The event will be part of Cabela's "Hometown Heroes" program with employee discounts for those attending and special recognition extended to all Friends of Coal during the four-day event.

Friends of Coal will have a tent on site throughout the event to provide our people with a place to relax and visit with other Friends of Coal while learning more about our industry.

As part of an increasing focus on the northern and eastern panhandles of West Virginia, The Friends of Coal will team up with Consol Energy and Cabela’s or Friends of Coal “Miner Appreciation” Days at the Wheeling store on June 26-29.

The event will be part of their “Hometown Heroes” promotion with employee discounts extended to Friends of Coal. If you are an avid outdoorsman, mark June 26-29 on your calendar to join Friends of Coal in Wheeling.

The four-day event will feature a concert by Chris Higbee, live remotes by local media outlets, raffles for door prizes and many other activities.     

The event is part of Cabela’s “Hometown Heroes” celebration, which raises money for Boatsy’s Boxes, an organization that sends gift baskets to our soldiers stationed around the world.

WVCA member, Walker Machinery Company, was among the businesses awarded the Governor's Commendation for International Market Entry last week by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, the West Virginia Export Council and the West Virginia Development Office. This award honors companies that have successfully exported to a new country in the past year. Walker was recognized for doing business with Saudia Arabia, South Africa and Germany. In 2012, West Virginia's exports reached a record high of $11.3 billion. The Governor's Award is a framed piece of currency from each new country to which the recipient began exporting in 2012. Congratulations to the folks at Walker.

The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District (Corps) has extended the comment period for the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) prepared by the WVDOH, FHWA and the Corps for the King Coal Highway Belo to Delbarton Project and Consol of Kentucky, Inc.’s (CONSOL) CWA Section 404 Individual Permit (IP) application for the discharge of fill material into waters of the United States (U.S.) in conjunction with the construction and operation of the proposed Buffalo Mountain Surface Mine. The DSEIS was issued on March 19, 2013 and published in the Federal Register on March 29, 2013. A PDF version of the document and supporting information is available at the following web address:

The comment period for the DSEIS has been extended to June 21, 2013. Please refer to the Public Notice dated April 1, 2013 for more information on this project.
