Charleston, W.Va. – Chris Hamilton, President/CEO of the West Virginia Coal Association, offers the following statement concerning the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding and Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Standards:

“The West Virginia Coal Association applauds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding and the Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Standards. The Endangerment Finding as manipulated by the former Administration serves as the underpinnings of all onerous EPA anti-fossil fuel regulations.

These rules have burdened our state’s economy for years without delivering the promised benefits, and today’s action is an important step toward restoring balance and common sense to federal regulation.

We especially commend Attorney General J.B. McCuskey for his leadership in bringing together a coalition of attorneys general from across the nation to advocate for this outcome. His strong and effective voice has ensured that the concerns of West Virginians and energy-producing states are heard loud and clear in Washington.
