The West Virginia Coal Association is continuing its outreach efforts across West Virginia and across the rest of the country.

·       Approximately 200 people turned out last week for a rally co-sponsored by the West Virginia Coal Association, Friends of Coal, Citizens for Coal and the Friends and Families of Coal, in Beckley. The rally was held at the Madison Convention Center and included presentations by WVCA Senior VP Chris Hamilton, VP Jason Bostic and Citizens for Coal President Roger Horton and others on issues related to the Obama EPA’s ongoing war on coal.  We received good media coverage including television stations WCHS and WSAZ.
·       Hamilton will be speaking next week at the Southern Illinois Old King Coal Festival’s upcoming Rally for Coal in Illinois on September 15th. ·       Hamilton and Bostic will also be taking part in a series of other events including the Friends and Families for Coal's Second Coal Forum (Putnam) — Tuesday, September 18 at 6:30pm at the Putnam County Courthouse.

·       Friends of Coal is taking part with Kentucky’s Stand for Coal on October 13th from 2 pm-3 pm by adopting a piece of US 23 from Big Stone Gap to Pound to stand for coal.  Hoping to have a line supporting Coal in 3 states on Oct. 13th. ·       Friends of Coal will also have a presence this weekend at the Youth Day at the Range in Mercer County as co-sponsors of the event.
