CONSOL Energy "Races" to Stock the Shelves for Mountaineer Foodbank

PITTSBURGH (April 9, 2009) – CONSOL Energy Inc. (NYSE:CNX) is partnering with the Mountaineer Food Bank to raise much needed food and money.
 
On Sunday, April 19, 2009, CONSOL Energy will be bringing an Aim Autosports Prototype Daytona Race Car to Morgantown, W. Va. as part of a statewide effort to fill the food bank’s pantries. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at University Towne Centre in Morgantown. 
 
Those who contribute food or monetary donations will have the opportunity to see firsthand a Daytona Prototype race car which will be running in the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series Bosch Engineering 250 Race at the Virginia International Speedway April 25th in Danville, Va.  Mark Wilkins, the driver of the car, will also be on hand to meet with race fans, answer questions about the car and sign autographs. Visitors will be given the opportunity to sit in the car and have their picture taken, if they wish, and tour the trailer in which the car travels and undergoes repairs.
 
In addition, CONSOL Energy, as a part of the project, will make a corporate donation of $2,500, and will match dollar for dollar – up to $2,500 -- any monetary donations collected and turned in at the Race to Stock the Shelves fundraiser on April 19th.
 
"The coming months are likely to be a difficult time for many people," said Thomas F. Hoffman, Senior Vice President - External Affairs, "It is essential that those of us who are able, do what we can to make sure that the basic needs of our friends and neighbors are met.  We hope the race car will add a fun element to a worthy cause."
 
All donations collected during the fundraiser will be distributed equally throughout Mountaineer Foodbank’s distribution sites.
