United We Stand!

The Executive Committee participated in Governor Manchin’s meeting on Tuesday that included Senator Rockefeller, Congresswoman Capito, Congressman Rahall and representatives from Senator Byrd’s office.  The two hour discussion, that also included Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin and House Speaker Rick Thompson, a number of state officials and commissioners from five southern counties, resulted in the Governor and our Congressional delegation assuring the group they would insist on a meeting with the White House regarding the permitting dilemma being created by Obama’s EPA.  Comments and explanations by Chairman Jim Bunn and Treasurer Paul Vining gave the bi-partisan group a much clearer understanding of the dramatic impact the administration’s attack was having on Appalachian coal and the threat it presented for the State and its coal producing counties.
